Diaconal Ordination
Jerusalem - On Saturday June 12th the Salesians and the White Fathers celebrated the ordination to the deaconate of ten men. The ordinations were presided by Patriarch Fouad Twal at the Church of the Nations at Gethsemane. A number of families came to share in the celebration from Africa, the Americas and Europe. Fr Daniel, from Brazil, came to represent the province of Saint Dominic Savio in Amazon – Manaus. In his homily the Patriarch highlighted the importance of living the evangelical counsels (poverty, chastity and obedience) in a more radical way through the order of deacon. But also he mentioned the importance of the service of the Word of God which each Deacon should be. Deacon Matthew De Gance SDB offered a reflection on gratitude of behalf of the newly ordained. At the conclusion of the ceremony lunch was held at the Notre Centre with entertainment provided by the students of Ratisbonne Study Centre.
